Serving on a Chamber Committee:
Chamber committee involvement offers members an excellent opportunity to take an active role in planning and implementing programs and strategies to achieve the Chamber's goals. While participating on committees, you will be networking with other members, increasing the visibility of your company name, ensuring your business needs are communicated, and enhancing the effectiveness of your Chamber membership.
Please review the following categories of programs and find one where you can make a difference! Each committee evaluates its own areas of responsibility and generates a work plan. Check one or more of the following committees that you would like to be a part of, or call at the Chamber Office at 822-3619 for more information:
- Membership Services/Leadership Development - Encourage Chamber membership through the promotion and enhancement of services and benefits. Recruit Chamber members through networking and promotional opportunities. Develop and propose effective retention programs. Create educational opportunities for members. Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Golden Harvest Café – 7am
- Ambassadors Committee (subcommittee of Membership/Leadership) - Serve as the public relations arm of the Chamber attending, and helping to organize, Chamber Networking events & Ribbon Cuttings. Assist in attracting and retaining members. Meets as needed.
- Government Affairs/Economic Development - Enhance a climate in Arcata that is supportive of business. Establish heightened levels of communication with elected officials on public policy regarding business. Work with local agencies, city staff, and educational institutions to give input and assist the City of Arcata in reaching the goals outlined in the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan. Meets the 1st Monday of the month at Schir Auto Parts – 12pm.
- Special Events – Plan and implement special events including the Chamber Annual Dinner, Arcata’s 4th of July Jubilee & Fireworks Show, HSU Welcome Back Event, Arcata’s 150th Anniversary, and more. Organize and execute fundraising events as established by the Board. Meets as needed.
